How a Pawn Works
Short on Cash? You're Not Alone!
Money can be tight these days, and a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck. That's why pawning is such a handy option!
Pawning lets you get cash fast — and you don't need good credit to do it.
Here's how it works: you bring something of value to the CLS Pawn Stars. The Stars give you money and keeps your item safe. Once you pay the money back, you get your item back too. Simple as that!

1
Bring Something of Value
Pick something you own that's worth money — like jewelry, a gadget, or a game console. It needs to be something the Pawn Stars wants.
(A pawn shop is a store that gives you cash and holds your item until you pay it back. If you don't pay it back, the Pawn Stars keep your item and can sell it.) -
2
Take It to CLS Pawn Stars
Bring your item to CLS Pawn Stars. They'll look it over and decide how much it's worth. This means checking its condition and figuring out how much they could sell it for later. -
3
Get a Loan
If CLS Pawn Stars wants your item, they'll offer you money — but less than the item is worth. This is called a loan.
They'll hold onto your item, and you get the cash. Don't worry, though — you haven't sold it yet! -
4
Pay Back the Loan
To get your item back, you repay the loan plus a little extra money, called interest and storage.
You usually have a few weeks or months to repay it. -
5
What Happens If You Don't Pay?
If you can't pay back the loan, CLS Pawn Stars keep your item and sell it to someone else. The upside: this doesn't affect your credit score the way missing a bank loan payment would.
Pawning is a handy way to borrow money without losing your item permanently—just make sure you repay the loan if you want your item returned. -
